Who are you and what’s your music background?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m Demetrius a rep for Digiwaxx Media. My music background is in radio promotions & sales, music retail, artist management, event planning, corporate branding, and music marketing.<\/p>\n

What is digiwaxx and how can it help independent artists?<\/strong>
\nDigiwaxx Media is a marketing and promotions agency with an emphasis on urban music and lifestyle. Digiwaxx helps independent artist because we allow artist to access services without the need of a major label. Marketing, promotions, publicity, etc. are all services that Digiwaxx offers.<\/p>\n

How and why was Digiwaxx created?<\/strong>
\nCorey “CL” Llewellyn created Digiwaxx in 1998 as a means to bridge the gap between DJs and the artists. When he first started Digiwaxx it was a simple email service that he used to send new music to his network of DJs on behalf of artists. From there the Digiwaxx platform was developed that included the blast service that allowed Djs to receive the music without clogging up their emails.<\/p>\n

About how many Djs are in your network? <\/strong>
\nCurrently there are over 25,000 member DJs in the Digiwaxx network.

\nWhat genres of music does Digiwaxx service?<\/strong>
\nDigiwaxx’s main focus is urban music, rap and some R&B and reggae. As the company continues to expand and our member DJs begin requesting other types of music we will aim to accommodate them.
\nIs there a cost for the service?<\/strong>
\nThere is no cost for DJs to access or download the music but there is a cost for artists to upload and blast their music.<\/p>\n

What do you see in the future for independent artists as it relates to getting exposure and distributing their music? <\/strong>
\nIndependent artist need to utilize the Internet heavily and keep some of the analog methods of promotion alive in order to help build a buzz around the artist and their music. You have to have a team that understands the value of being resourceful in finding new ways to distribute music. Digiwaxx is a resource that gets the artist’s music into the hands of key influencers: the DJ.
\nAny added advice you can give to independent artists trying to break into the industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Research resources that help to reach your goals as a artist. Utilizing resources and building relationships are the key to getting started in the industry. Have a proper team in place that has the same common goal as the artist. Don’t be afraid to ask questions when you find a resource you want to use and most importantly have patience because it takes time to build a long career.
