The indie grind is not for everyone. And it’s certainly a helluva lot easier after you’ve built a career and fanbase with a major label machine behind you during most of your years as an artist. But Lupe has been expressing how his artistic integrity has been shitted on, for a while now, while under his current label, Atlantic Records. Says Lupe, “We’re coming toward the end of our relationship so it’s like a going away party. After this album, I got one [album] left. So, it’s all good for now. They give me my room. I’m definitely not going back into the majors. I’m definitely going indie when we’re done.”
I think Lupe has the kind of fanbase that will support his future endeavors.
