God saved my life when I was lost and destined for destruction. I am Jon West a artist and producer from the U.S. Virgin Islands/North Carolina. I was born on the island of St. Croix and grew up there until I was 14 when my family moved to Wilmington, NC. I have had lots of experiences in life, some good and some not. But, they’ve shaped who I am and I believe this comes out in my music. Visual art used to be my escape, poetry took it’s place when I was 13 and hip hop took the place of poetry when I was in high school. I wasn’t introduced to hip hop until I was 16 or 17, growing up in the islands is partly guilty but in general I just never had access to it. It’s been my escape ever since I started freestyling and putting together my first crude recordings in 2004. I feel like I’ve developed a lot as a person since then and this has spilled over into my music. Sometimes the negativity of my past comes out and sometimes my positive outlook on the future can be heard in between the kick and the snare. I love music and I’m going to do it forever, if I make a name out of it then so be it, but if not, I’m just a regular guy who loves hip hop.
