Ice Cube’s History and Biography
- Ice Cube was born O’Shea Jackson on June 15, 1969
- He was raised in South Central Los Angeles
- in the mid-1980s he started a group with two others called CIA
- Ice Cube rapped at parties hosted by Dr. Dre who later produced his first recordings
- Ice Cube met Eazy-E through Dre, and that trio, along with Arabian Prince, formed the first lineup of N.W.A. MC Ren and DJ Yella joined soon after.
- Eazy E co-founded Ruthless Records and launched later in 1987 with two releases: Eazy’s “Boyz-N-the-Hood,” and an EP from N.W.A.
- He worked on N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton and Eazy-E’s Eazy-Duz-It, released by Ruthless in1988
- Straight Outta Compton peaked at number nine on Billboard’s R&B/hip-hop chart
- Conflicts with Jerry Heller prompted Cube to leave N.W.A in late 1989
- He released his first solo album, AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted, in 1990
- The following year he released a follow-up EP Kill at Will
- In1991, he starred in the Academy Award-nominated crime drama film ‘Boyz n the Hood,’ directed by John Singleton
- In the same year he released his second studio album ‘Death Certificate’. It was one of his bestselling albums.
- in 1995 Ice Cube went on to write the cult classic film Friday with DJ Pooh.
- Ice Cube went on to release several more albums and direct/act in a number of critically acclaimed films
