Just because you’re signed doesn’t mean you’ve made it, and Big Sean proves that. After being signed to G.O.O.D. Music in 2007, he wasn’t an overnight success. Although being linked to Ye definitely didn’t hurt, Big Sean came up in the game through drive and determination. He had to build a fan base on his own. It’s been nearly six years since Big Sean freestyled for Kanye West and his crew, and he is finally releasing his first studio album, ‘Finally Famous’. If there’s anything to be learned here it should be that the same rules apply whether you’re signed to a label or not. As an artist, you have to get out there and do the work.

“I feel like it’s great that I’m coming out with my album now because I’m just now comfortable with myself as an artist. He said. ‘Instead of going to school, I chose to do music, I feel like I was going through my own college and my degree is my album. It’s everything I’ve learned, everything I’ve picked up along the way, all in one” – Big Sean
